GIFTS FOR PRESENTATION TO QATAR MUSEUM
1 As promised in my letter of 8 January, I am enclosing in
today's bag, 10 January, copies of the documents and maps which
the India Office Library have copied and bound for us. I hope
you will agree that they make an attractive gift and together
with the books which we have already sent you, I think this will
be a suitable "package" for presentation to the Qataris.
2 I am afraid I have had no luck in finding a suitable copy
of Bertram Thomas' "Arabia Felix", or any of the other books we
mentioned. Nor, alas, have I been able to lay my hands on a model
of an East Indiaman. I enclose some book-plates which you may
find useful when Lord Balniel inscribes the volumes. I look
forward to hearing how the gifts were received.
