purchased by Abu Dhabi. The naval force of the

Federation should consist of 16 ships, 4 of which
were already owned by Qatar and 4 by Abu Dhabi. 8
additional ships should be bought.

7. The Air Force

(a) The Federation should acquire 16 helicopters

and 18 Hawker Hunters.

(b) The planes would require maintenance depots;

the Federation should initiate negotiations with

the British Government to take over the British military

installations at Sharjah and at Bahrain and use them for

this purpose.

(c) The aircraft should be distributed as follows: 
4 Hunters should be attached to Bahrain, 4 to

Sharjah and 4 to Abu Dhabi: the distribution of the

remainder should be decided by H.H. The Ruler. These

aircraft should periodically carry out exercises in

order to make some impression on the minds of the

people of the area.

(a) The Federation should acquire 4 transport

aircraft in addition to the planes which Abu Dhabi

already had. The transport aircraft could carry the
following;

1. 20 soldiers plus their weapons.
2. 4000 rotls (lrotl - 449.28 gr)

3. 1 Jeep.

One of the characteristics of these aircraft, - either

the Skyvan or the Carribou which Abu Dhabi had, - was
that they could land in the desert and did not require

a prepared runway.
