BRITISH POLITICAL AGENCY, (1531/63) ARCHIVES NOS BAHRAIN 17 MAY 1963 65 We have received the Bahrain Petroleum Company Limited Declaration of Income Tax for the Tax Year ended December 31, 1962. 2. The tax payable this year amounts to £4,478,645. 38, 4d., against last year's $4,359,288. 13s. 11d. A considerable part of the increase arises from the Ruler's acceptance of the Bahrain Petroleum Company's suggestions for changes in the structure of the pricing agreements referred to in Bill Lyall's letter 1531/63 of February 11 and the enclosures thereto. B81532/3 3. It was only when we received notification of BAPCO's Declaration of Income Tax that we learned of the Ruler's acceptance of the BAPCO proposals. We now learn that he has also accepted BAPCO's relinquishment of its rights in the Hawar Island area referred to in Ted Wiltshire's letter 1536/63 of February 11. - B1532/4 4. I am sending a copy of this letter to ancis Brown at the Residency and, with reference to the Hawar relinquishment, to Philip McKearney at Doha. (J. P. Tripp) H. M. Political Agent. E. F.
