This file concerns the relinquishment of oil concessions in the Trucial States during 1971. It contains a conversation between Sir W H T Luce and Messrs Stockwell of the Iraq Petroleum Company (IPC) on 29 September 1971, including reference to:

  • The differences between the Abu Dhabi Government and the Abu Dhabi Petroleum Company Limited (ADPC) regarding the areas to be relinquished in Abu Dhabi
  • The decision to develop the port of Jebel Dhanna instead of building a new terminal on the coast of Ras Sadr
  • The boundary problem between Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi
