HRH PRINCE MAJID BIN ABDUL AZIZ
Governor of Mecca.
Bom 1936. One of the younger sons of Abdul Aziz: a full brother of Sattam. Appointed tohis present position in 1980 after the Mecca rising. Educated in Saudi Arabia. Tarred with the“Free Princes” brush (qv Talal) but left them. Minister for Municipality and Rural Affairs 1975-80.
Formerly had a reputation for laziness. But he is well respected in his present position.Friendly. Speaks reasonable English and good French. Attended HM The Queen during her visitto Saudi Arabia in 1979. Has two sons and five daughters.
