Kuwait: seabed and island concessions

This file relates to the concessions for Kuwait seabed and islands. It contains correspondence on:

• Agreement between Sheikh Ahmad Al Jabir Al Sabah, the Sheikh of Kuwait and the American Independent Oil Company to the rights for exploration, drilling and production of gas and oil within the islands of Kubr, Qaru [Qaruh] and Umm Al Maradim
• Signing of a political agreement in respect of the islands
• Payments for oil sales
• Views of Professor H Lauterpacht respecting the Kuwait Oil Company and the seabed and subsoil outside the territorial waters of Kuwait and its islands
• Copy of the political agreement between HMG and the American Independent Oil Company in respect of the islands of Kubr, Qaru [Qaruh] and Umm Al Maradim
• Letter of agreement between HMG and the American Independent Oil Company that in the event of a war or national emergency, HMG has the right to all crude oil required by the Government of Kuwait
