This file relates to the Trucial Oman Scouts (TOS). It contains correspondence concerning:

  • Confusion over Major Amin Ezzadine's contract regarding a pay increase and free leave passages (16)
  • Terms and conditions of service for British officers and other ranks seconded to the TOS (17)
  • Difficulty in covering all parts of the territory it is responsible for due to the ineffectiveness of existing vehicles in soft, deep sand in places such as Liwa. Based on experience, the oil companies recommend the Dodge Power Wagon, but British Forces Arabian Peninsula want to trial British vehicles such as a long-wheel-base Land Rover and an Austin K9 (18)
  • Case of three scouts accused of negligently losing their rifles. It includes a draft amendment of the rule governing the trial of a scout by court martial in order to deter the sale of rifles on the black market (19)
  • Question of a special fund to cover the cost of entertainment at passing out parades. It also contains documents on 'Recruiting Procedure in TOS' and 'Details of Financial Expenditure Under Vote 9 C 2 (Recruiting)' (20)
