This exhibition illustrates how the concept of tolerance has evolved through the social, political, and religious history of the United Arab Emirates by presenting agreements, documents and photographs sourced from the UAE National Library and Archives and the National Archives of the UK. The aim is to demonstrate the value of tolerance both before and after the Union; from the Trucial States
In a report sent to Bernard Burrows, Political Resident in Bahrain, dated 9 April 1957, Peter Tripp, Political Agent, Dubai, discussed the required budgets for Trucial States Development Program in 1958 and 1959. He proposed the establishment of municipalities in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi, similar to the one in Dubai, suggesting to seek assistance from the same Iraqi expert Mr.
While the United Arab Emirates was formed in 1971, the earliest records of education systems can be traced to the beginning of the 20th century. Before the advent of the Modern Educational System, the Ministry of Education surmises that there were three iterations in educational development, including the Mutawa and the Katateeb, Educational Circles and Semi-Organized Education.
The relationship between the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is naturally based on proximity, shared customs and traditions. Under the leadership of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and King Faisal Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, the closeness between the two countries was further enhanced and cemented to produce political unity and a shared and complimentary destiny.
Part 2 of this exhibition covers the period from the 1970s up to 2022 and should be read in conjunction with Part 1 covering the period 1922 to the 1960s.
THE JOURNEY OF A CENTURY TO BECOME A GLOBAL POWERHOUSE
The aim of our exhibition is to depict the history and development of oil in Abu Dhabi over the past 100 years through documents, photographs, videos and newspaper cuttings from our collection.
H.H. Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak was born in Al Hayer in Al Ain in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, where she studied the Holy Quran and its interpretation as well as the Hadith (saying of the Prophet).
There follows audio files of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan speaking on important topics on different occasions during his lifetime. Each section of this exhibition will provide a heading so that the viewer can identify the subject matter of the recordings.
The United Arab Emirates is famous at home and abroad for having developed its infrastructure at breakneck speed. Most of this development has taken place in recent years although it is worthy of note that it started even before the Trucial States became a country following the Union of the seven emirates.
Prior to the mid-1940s, traditional medicine was the only form of healthcare available to the people in the Trucial States. Only a handful of families could afford modern healthcare for which they had to travel abroad.
