Agreement between UK and Sharjah, on development of Sharjah airfield, 1960

This file contains correspondence relating to: Agreement of the Ruler of Sharjah Sheikh Saqr Bin Sultan Al Qasimi and his permission to advance the plan for the development of the airfield in Sharjah, in exchange for a lease of £ 30,000 p.a., and the settlement of his debts of up to £ 50,000. The instructions by the Chancellor of the Exchequer Derick Heathcoat-Amory to conclude the negotiations with Sheikh Saqr about the airfield at the earliest possible moment, and phase the execution of the plan to avoid strengthening his hand as far as possible.
