This file relates to the Middle East Navigation Aids Service (MENAS), which is owned by HMG, and the lighthouses it maintains in the Gulf. It relates primarily to the Tunb Islands, which are disputed between Ras Al Khaimah and Iran, though the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah Sheikh Saqr Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi is willing to make some concessions to Iran. The file contains correspondence concerning the legal position of the lighthouse stationed there and the question of its future management.
