Arms smuggling to Dhofar rebels: Iraqi involvement

• Details of an Iraqi boat intercepted in Shatt Al Arab by Iranian authorities, which contained arms, ammunition, members of the Iraqi Army and intelligence service, five Dhofaris and documents relating to 140 Dhofaris trained in Iraq; and the process of co-operation with the Muscat authorities who want to arrest those involved
• Reports that arms are being smuggled to the Kuria Muria [Khuriya Muriya] islands
• Concern that a Russian fishing fleet might be involved in illegal fishing, arms smuggling or electronics intelligence.
