Boundaries between Oman and Trucial States

This file concerns the boundaries between Oman and the Trucial States. It contains correspondence on:

• A recently completed review of the Abu Dhabi-Oman boundary
• A request from the Prime Minister of Oman Sayyed Tariq Bin Taimur for copies of the frontier agreements with the Trucial States made by the former Sultan Saeed Bin Taimur
• Difficulties in locating copies of the agreement between Fujairah and Oman on the frontier between the Shihuh and the Sharqiyin
• The provision to Sayyed Tariq by J F Walker of a set of maps [not enclosed] marked with the agreed frontiers between Oman on the one hand and Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ajman and Fujairah on the other
• A request from Shell for a copy of the FCO's 1963 map of the Trucial States borders in order to help them gauge the extent of their concession in Oman near the border with Ras Al Khaimah
• A proposal to try to reach agreement over the unsettled frontier between Oman and Sharjah
• An approach from the Ruler of Fujairah Sheikh Mohammad Bin Hamad Al Sharqi for his State to join the Sultanate
• The hopes of the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah Sheikh Saqr Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi that the outstanding frontier problems between himself and the Sultan Qaboos Bin Saeed may be settled soon.
