  • The visit of the UAE Minister for Electricity and Water Sheikh Abdulla Bin Humaid Al Qasimi to the UK, and the controversy caused by the proposal made by the UK Electricity Council which cut across the survey work already commissioned from Preece, Cardew and Rider
  • The possibility of the Electricity Council providing an engineer with competence in both power generation and desalination
