This file relates to the establishment of a military post in Aden near the frontier with Dhofar and the Sultanate of Muscat and Oman. It contains correspondence on:

  • The plans to establish the post near Habarut, for the Hadramaut Bedouin Levies
  • The repeated postponement of a meeting on demarcation of the frontier, between a representative from Aden Government, and the Wali of Dhofar representing the Sultan of Muscat and Oman Saeed Bin Taimur
  • The possible opposition of the Mahra tribe to the post
  • The proposal to establish a temporary position for a security detail at the old fort at Mahra and the claim of the Bait Kathir tribe to the fort
  • The good-will of the Sultan, his stipulation that Wadi Habarut should be avoided and his willingness to allow air cover from RAF Salalah
