Reference Abdullah bin Darweish, who will, I presume,
be taking over from me when I finally depart for Kenya.

At the present moment Abdullah has been working for
Desert Locust Survey for 11 years, and is very highly
trained and competent. His salary at the moment is
Rs.500, and I very strongly suggest that with the
additional responsibilities he will have to take over i.e.
Locust Control; Garden Control, and maintaining
relationships with Rulers and Walis of the Batinah Coast
etc., he should be promoted and put into a scale of not
less than Rs.800 plus the normal subsistence allowance.

I have the greatest faith in Abdullah, and am sure
that he will carry out his responsibilities, and I hope
that in the very near future he will be able to organise
his own Locust Team financed by World Food and
Agricultural Organisation.
