This file contains correspondence relating to:

  • An account of reasons why Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan sent an armed force to his villages. It is suggested that Turki's action in sending a car to the Abu Dhabi villages and his attempt to pick up Sheikh Saqr Al Nuaimi on his way back to Buraimi should form the subject of a protest (383)
  • An account of Weir's interview with Sheikh Saqr Al Nuaimi, following which he took action against two leading agitators amongst his servants; and Weir's visit to Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan's villages. There is no intention of building a police fort in Hili (384)
  • The Saudi government do not consider that the flying of Turki's flag at Hamasa is a breach of the Standstill Agreement. The Ministry of Foreign Affair’s note of 10 November replying to a complaint (385)

  • A suggestion that a protest should be made against the sending of tribesmen to Ibn Saud by Turki, and that HMG should make it clear that they are not prepared to include the territory belonging to the Trucial Coast rulers in the arbitration proceedings (405)
  • The Ruler of Qatar Sheikh Ahmad Bin Ali Al Thani does not welcome arbitration proposals. He wishes to negotiate the question of the Qatar frontier directly with Ibn Saud (406).
