Technical education in Persian Gulf, 1964

This file contains a 'Report on the possible extension of Technical Education under British Auspices in Oman' by the Headmaster of the Sharjah Trade School John H Taylor and related correspondence. Taylor proposes that new schools should not be established in isolation from each other and the subsequent correspondence discusses the pros and cons, politically and educationally, as well as the practicalities of opening and expanding trade schools throughout the Trucial Coast, including in Abu Dhabi, Muscat, Ajman, Sharjah and Dubai (1-4).

This file contains correspondence relating to the visit of the Regional Director of the United Nations Technical Assistance Board Hasan Mohammad Hasan to the Rulers of Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Ajman, Sharjah and Dubai. He discussed how the United Nations could help with their development projects. The Rulers agreed to send Hasan a list of their individual requirements, which were primarily in the fields of health and education. It also includes discussion of the financing arrangements.
