Transference of responsibility to local governments in Trucial States

This file relates to the transference of responsibility to local governments in the Trucial States in 1971. It contains correspondence concerning:

• The transfer of responsibility for most of the laws from HMG to the Government of Abu Dhabi via Queen's Regulation No 10 of 1971, including the laws on arms and dangerous drugs
• The transitional arrangements between HMG and the Trucial States on the issuance of visas
• A notice from the Ministry of the Interior, Abu Dhabi to the public about residence permits
• The possibility of a North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)-type security arrangement for the seven Trucial States if it proves impossible to achieve a Union of Arab Emirates.
