  • The outstanding medical bills and transportation expenses of the ex-Sultan incurred during the 1970 Omani coup with the British Bank of the Middle East (BBME)
  • The re-establishing of a relationship between the ex-Sultan and his brother Tariq Bin Taimur
  • The request of the ex-Sultan for medical attention in the UK for his uncle Sayyed Shihab Bin Faisal
  • The prospective move out of the Dorchester Hotel of the ex-Sultan to a private flat
  • Rumours that the Sultan of Oman Qaboos Bin Saeed offered the ex-Sultan the right to return; and HMG’s dismissal of this rumour
  • The ex-Sultan’s illness in New York, and death at the Dorchester Hotel on 19 October 1972; the sending of condolences to Sultan Qaboos from the Prime Minister Edward Heath, Foreign Secretary Alec Douglas-Home and the Queen; and the ex-Sultan’s burial at Brookwood Cemetery in Woking
