This file concerns plans for any future evacuation of British and friendly nationals from Saudi Arabia. It contains correspondence on:
- Consultations between the Ministry of Defence and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office; and between British and US diplomatic staff, including the US Ambassador Herman Eilts
- Question of whether the evacuation or ‘standfast’ of those in the Eastern Province would be facilitated by the Americans
- Estimated numbers of potential evacuees involved and a possible increase arising from Airwork Services Limited contracts in the Saudi Arabian Air Defence Scheme
The file also refers to evacuation plans from Iran and western Pakistan.
