A Foreign Office Selection under the chairmanship of the Deputy Legal Adviser has interviewed him and recom mended him for the appointment. 4. Arabian and Personnel Departments concur in the recommendation. Judge Palmer, the senior Judge in the Persian Gulf, has been consulted and concurs. The three Judges in the Persian Gulf all hold appointments on each of the Courts for Bahrain, Qatar, and the Trucial States. The senior Judge, Judge Palmer, is resident in Bahrain. He acts as legal adviser to the Political Resident, particularly in connexion with our policy of retroceding jurisdiction to the local Rulers, and hears appeals from the other two Judges. Judge Cameron, also resident in Bahrain, deals mainly with the judicial work of the Court for Bahrain. The third Judge, Judge Pridmore, is resident in Doha, and deals with the judicial work of the Courts for Qatar and the Trucial States. Judge Pridmore original ly wished to give up his appointment (until the end of April, but agreed to stay until a replacement was found.
