Headquarters Land Forces Persian Gulf have just received a letterfrom Middle East Land Forces on this subject, stating some implicationsthat do not justify any increase in the Commissioning Grant. Wouldyou please let this Headquarters have your views and whether youaccept the explanation. 2. Officers of the British Army do NOT receive any Outfit allowanceto cover the cost of Mess Kit, as this type of dress, althoughgenerally worn and accepted by Regiments and Corps is not yet anofficially recognised dress. 3. Under these circumstances it would not be justifiable to TSGOsto be issued with an additional element in their Outfit Allowancefor the purchase of Mess Kit. 4. If then the cost of Mess Kit for a TSGO is deleted from thescale of items listed at Annex A to Reference B, you will note thatthe balance of 205.78 rupees does not justify any increase in theCommissioning Grant.
