This file relates to rebel activity in Dhofar, in the Sultanate of Muscat and Oman. It contains correspondence, mainly telegrams and memorandums, on:

  • Details of the operations against the rebels by the Sultan's Armed Forces, including 'Operation Rainbow' against the rebel groups of Ali Shulfan and Mussallim Bin Nufl
  • Rumours that Mussallim and some members of the Al Kathiri have visited Jadhib [Jadib], Yemen
  • RAF photo reconnaissance and transport operations
  • The suspected arms smuggling from Basra of Abdulla Bin Humaid Al Ghasani
  • An assessment of the arms captured at Mudhai and Einoot
  • A request for assistance from Middle East Command HQ in interrogating prisoners
  • A request made to HMG to close the route into Dhofar from Hadramant [Hadhramaut] and notes on camel and foot routes between Hauf and Dhofar
