This file contains correspondence relating to the mining of copper in Muscat, and contains:
- Minute by Mr Lamarque of a meeting on 13 June with Lieutenant Colonel G de Gaury, who has made an agreement with the Sultan of Muscat and Oman Saeed Bin Taimur (1)
- Copy of a letter from Muscat to Bahrain enclosing a licence granted by the Sultan of Muscat and Oman to de Gaury for prospecting in the Batinah and Masirah islands (2)
- Reports on the Sultan of Muscat's copper and the deposits on Masirah Island. (3)
- Copy of a letter to Bahrain resident Mr Richards stating that Wendell Phillips has interested an American firm in the exploitation of minerals (beside Petroleum) in Dhofar. He was ordered by the Sultan to alter the concession area for the right to farm from Salalah to Sur instead of confining them to the Dhofar province (4)
- Report on a specimen taken from Masirah Island which had a high content of copper ore and had interested a firm of mining engineers. According to the Sultan, two engineers of the American Steep Rock Mining Company were at present visiting Dhofar looking for minerals (5)
