'Avamir (Badu Section)

This is an important nomadic section of a tribe which
has two other main parts: Komads in Hadhramaut, and settled
tribe sien in Oman proper. The latter are Ibadhiyah, but
the nomads are Sunni, and must be regarded as Hinaviyah, Hen we deal
mly will Mur lumad actin living the Alu Dhali territory.

They have a great feeling of personal loyalty to
Shaikh Zaid of Abu Dhabi.

They live as nomads and roam chiefly from Buraimi

(Al Muwaiqi Settlement), through the Al Hamra sands to Al
an eyelusily Kidan, Iſ they have 4 Dirah it is Al Khabah - Qasaiwara and

Southern Al Hamrah.

They are seriously at feud with the Duru'. The trouble
has lasted some 12 years and is now usually patched up by an
annual truce. Of all the Trucial Coast tribes they have the
best knowledge of the sands.

Al 'Afar are' separate. A small tribe often confused.
with Awamir. They live in Oman.
Al Rashid - or Rawashid of the Dakakah sands of the
Hadhramaut are often confused with the Awamar, but
they are quite separate. Individuals of the tribe
visit the Al bu Balah and are on good terms with the
Awamir,
The Harasis of Southern Oman are sometimes confused
with the Awamir, but they also are quite separate.

Lorimer calls them Shiah Muslims whose mother tongue
