H. HERRIDGE 214 OXFORD STREET: LONDON. W. 1. MUSEUM 22nd June 1962 I gathered from our discussion last Wednesday that you were a bit afraid that if we sent a party into the area around Nakhla and Sauda Nathil in the near future it might have the effect of reviving the sort of feeling aroused by the decision on Halul island. Having looked into the matter, I can see no immediate necessity for us to do a seismic survey there, and I have therefore told Fege that under present circumstances he should not plan to put a party into that area for the time being. If, at a later stage, we felt that we would like to complete the picture in the north-west corner of Abu Dhabi we would consult with you. Sir William H.T. Luce, G.B.E., K.C.M.G., c/o Foreign Office, Whitehall, S.W.1.
