Saudi delegation arrived rather unexpectedly yesterday andad journed after a brief meeting today. They and Qataris haveagreed to send small party of geologists to look at the frontierarea tomorrow October 28 and following day with a view to makingrecommendations on principles to be applied in joining points orareas agreed on in 1952. Cochrane will accompany party.No further talks will take place for about a month and intentionis then to employ a firm to survey and demarcate the frontier.

2. Kamel tells me that the Saudis have no wish to cause troublewith Abu Dhabi and the Deputy Ruler has given assurance thatparty will remain on Qatari side of the Saudi Arabian frontier.Qataris are nevertheless anxious to define the southern frontierfor the purpose of [grp undec]'s concession.
