RECEIVED IN ARCHIVES No: 5 5 DEC 1963 33 CAVENDISH SQUARE TELEPHONE LONDON WI MAYfair 9405 BT1531806. General 2898/B Personal & Confidential J. A. Snellgrove Esq., Foreign Office, Whitehall, London, S.W.1. 29th November, 1963 Dear Mr. Snellgrove, I refer to Mr. Gracie's letter BT.1531/85 dated 18th October, addressed to Mr. Russell, in which he requested information about the extent of A.D.P.C. operations in the southern part of the State of Abu Dhabi, between 1955 and 1960. I am replying to you since I understand that Mr. Gracie is at present away. 2. The extent of our work is shown graphically on the enclosed map of Abu Dhabi, and indicates the area covered by gravity surveys, (a) up to 1955, (b) during the last six months of 1953, and (c) between 1955 and 1960. You will see that by 1960 virtually the whole of Abu Dhabi had been covered by gravity surveys and that the most southern part was covered in the period 1955 to 1960. 3. The small area in the south west corner covered by gravity survey during the last six months in 1953 has been specially marked in yellow, instead of being included with the blue area covering the other surveys up to 1955, in order to make it clear that this particular work was covered prior to August 1954. 4. In addition to our gravity surveys, we had of course done geo logical and topographical surveys in the southern areas both before and after 1955. Yours sincerely, (R. E. R. Bird)
