This file relates to efforts to restore diplomatic relations between Britain and Saudi Arabia. It contains correspondence concerning: The Iranian Prime Minister's report on his talks with the Saudis regarding the possible resumption of Anglo-Saudi relations. It also includes a summary of Herbert de Ribbing's efforts to resolve the Buraimi refugee problem (21) A conversation between Pierre Edde, from a prominent Lebanese family, and Prince Faisal Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud.

This file relates to efforts to restore diplomatic relations between Britain and Saudi Arabia. It contains correspondence concerning: P Dixon's meeting with UN Secretary General Dag Hammarskjöld. The latter accepts Britain's basic position for the restoration of relations, but is reluctant to identify himself with the British position prematurely (45) Revised draft of Hammarskjöld's reply to Prince Faisal Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud. HMG agrees to the text, but asks for a delay in its despatch until the Sultan of Muscat and the Ruler of Abu Dhabi are informed of the proposals.

This file relates to Anglo-Saudi talks after the British mission to Riyadh led by Parliamentary Under-Secretary at the Foreign Office Douglas Dodds-Parker, which ended on 1 May 1956. It contains correspondence concerning: Ambassador R W Parkes's discussion with Prince Faisal Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud on a proposed agenda for Anglo-Saudi talks, including the latter's ultimatum regarding: the withdrawal of British troops from disputed areas; repatriation of refugees; maintenance of law and order; and supervision of the area by a neutral administration.
