This file relates to Herbert de Ribbing's visit to the Sultanate of Muscat and Oman on behalf of UN Secretary General U Thant. It contains correspondence concerning: de Ribbing's appointment (41-42) Brief for Foreign Secretary Alec Douglas-Home's talk with U Thant (43) Draft statement [enclosed] to be issued by the News Department in the event of rebel incidents during de Ribbing's visit (44) de Ribbing and Jan van Wijk's tour of Oman from arrival in May to departure in June.
