This file contains correspondence relating to: Visit by Mohammad Bakhit Saghir to Doha, Sharjah and Dubai. He arrived with a Lebanese passport, but no visa. Allegedly acting on behalf of Sadaka Kaki, founder of the Economic and Engineering Company Limited, he met the Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum and the Ruler of Sharjah Sheikh Saqr Bin Sultan Al Qasimi. He proposed many development schemes, but provided no details.

This file contains correspondence relating to: Political Resident in the Persian Gulf B A B Burrows' suggestion to the Sultan of Muscat and Oman Saeed Bin Taimur that Gwadur [Gwadar] might be leased to Pakistan for five years and then sold (24) Prime Minister of Pakistan's eagerness for settlement over Gwadar for two reasons. Firstly, to combat the problem of smuggling.

Broadcasting, 1964

This file contains a survey of the possibilities for broadcasting in Muscat by the Chief Engineer of the Diplomatic Wireless Service Donald Bailey and related correspondence. The British see political advantage in providing Sultan Saeed Bin Taimur with a local alternative and antidote to Voice of the Arabs but want assurances regarding the type of content for broadcast before funding the scheme. The survey includes maps illustrating day and night transmission ranges and illustrated plans for a studio, an office, a transmitter building and a power house (4-5).
