This file relates to the foundation of the Abu Dhabi Development Company Limited by the firm Chandler Brothers, Colwill & How of Liverpool and its subsequent operations. It contains correspondence concerning: Drawing up of an agreement between the Chandler Brothers' firm and the Ruler of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Shakhbut Bin Sultan Al Nahyan to found the Abu Dhabi Development Company; and subsequent issues with the monopoly clauses within the agreement.

Control of arms and ammunition supplies in the Trucial States, 1955

This file contains: 1955 Trucial states firearms and ammunition regulation, including drafts, amendments and related correspondence. It is designed to prevent arms reaching the Saudi detachment in the Buraimi Oasis illegally and includes an amendment to exempt imports and exports for the purposes of HMG (1, 3-6) Correspondence relating to the discovery of a Belgian rifle in a Dubai rifle broker's house under suspicious circumstances. Scotland Yard and 'friends' make enquiries to trace its origins.

Control of arms exports to the Persian Gulf, 1954

This file contains: Copy of a note from Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (17 May 1954) acknowledging a British note of 11 May relating to export of arms to the Gulf, which they have had brought to the attention of the competent authorities (3) Correspondence relating to reports that that the State Department have received unverified information that arms have been unloaded in Gwadur [Gwadar]. The State Department have also lost trace of the shipments of pistols and ammunition believed to be destined for Kuwait from Italy.
