This file relates to the conflict between the Sultan of Muscat and Oman Saeed Bin Taimur and the Imam of Oman Ghalib Al Hina'i. It contains correspondence on: The possible resumption of negotiations and discussion of British tactics and policy. It also discusses the idea of Hashim Jawad mediating negotiations and transferring them to Baghdad (42, 47, 53, 57-58) The Irish authorities' request for a copy of the Treaty of Sib [Seeb]. The Foreign Office provide a substantially accurate version published in the New York Times.

Oman … a new Arab State awaiting its turn' (1, 3) Assistance for the Chicago Daily News correspondent George Weller during his visit to Buraimi, Nizwa and Oman; the Sultan's refusal to grant permission to visit, and Weller's subsequently hostile article.

It also contains instructions sent to UK Ambassadors in Lebanon, Iraq, Sudan, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia for discussion of the Oman question with local officials, along with responses (361) Photostatic copies of the Arabic text of the Treaty of Sib [Seeb] and of an agreement, concluded just prior to the Treaty of Seeb, between the Sultan of Muscat and Oman and the leading Sheikhs of the Beni Jabir tribe.
