Universal Postal Union: Bahrain-Abu Dhabi-Qatar, 1966

This file relates to the representation of the Gulf States in the Universal Postal Union (UPU). It contains correspondence concerning Gulf States registering with the UPU: Bahrain, Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain and the Sultanate of Muscat and Oman. It includes discussion of the issue of the responsibility of the UK for the international commitments of these states. It also includes the exchanges of letters and consultations with the Rulers on this matter (4).

This file concerns the question of Oman as it was addressed by the UN. It contains correspondence on: Preparations for the meeting in London between the Sultan of Muscat and Oman Saeed Bin Taimur and the Chairman of the UN's Ad Hoc Committee on Oman Abdul Rahman Pazhwak. It includes a list, sent by Pazhwak to the Sultan, of the major points he wishes to discuss (81, 83-84, 86, 89) Committee's interest in the Sultanate's cession of Gwadur [Gwadar] to Pakistan (82) Meeting between the Committee and members of the Foreign Office.
