This file contains:P E Turnbull's report detailing recommendations for the development of a police force in the Sultanate of Muscat and Oman and his cover letter to Sultan Saeed Bin Taimur. It pays particular regard to the towns of Muscat and Mattrah [Muttrah], oil installations, and the urgent need for political intelligence, and discusses the role of the Sultan's Armed Forces, the existing police organisation, the establishment of a special branch unit, uniforms, salaries, recruitment, training, buildings, transport, radio, and arms (2).
