It contains correspondence relating to Gulf affairs, including a memorandum by G G Arthur discussing The Shah of Iran Mohammad Reza Pahlavi opposing the United Arab Emirates (UAE) until the islands problem is settled, the Ruler of Saudi Arabia King Faisal Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud’s insistence on a union of nine Emirates and the suggestion that HMG should withdraw its forces from the Gulf in good order and leave behind a stable and friendly political structure.
