This file relates to efforts to restore diplomatic relations between Britain and Saudi Arabia. It contains correspondence concerning:

  • The Iranian Prime Minister's report on his talks with the Saudis regarding the possible resumption of Anglo-Saudi relations. It also includes a summary of Herbert de Ribbing's efforts to resolve the Buraimi refugee problem (21)
  • A conversation between Pierre Edde, from a prominent Lebanese family, and Prince Faisal Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud. Edde says the Saudis are enraged with the US for assisting the United Arab Republic (UAR) (22)
