Withdrawal of UK armed forces from Bahrain, 1972 Jan 01-1972 Dec 31

This file contains a report by HM Ambassador to Bahrain A J D Stirling reviewing the withdrawal of British troops from the country following the end of special treaty relations in 1971. It considers the policies by which a chaotic withdrawal on the lines of Aden was avoided, the transfer of military property to Bahrain and the US Navy and a recommendation for maintaining future British influence in the country through technical assistance.
