Letters of Persian Gulf Squadron on acts of piracy and slave trading: suppression of slave trade by ships and vessels of East India Company, 1855

This file contains letters from the Resident in the Persian Gulf Captain A B Kemball, the Assistant Resident Lieutenant H F Disbrowe and the Acting Resident Commander J F Jones. They are mostly addressed to the Commander of the Indian Naval Squadron in the Persian Gulf Commodore G Robinson, his successor Commodore R Ethersey and the Senior Officer of the Indian Navy in the Persian Gulf Lieutenant A Foulerton, but there are also some written to the commanders of individual vessels and to local Rulers.

This file contains letters exchanged between the Commander of the Persian Gulf Squadron Commodore G Robinson and the Resident in the Persian Gulf Captain A B Kemball, as well as between Captain Kemball and the commanders of various vessels. They cover a range of topics, including the movement of British shipping in the Gulf, including that of the Bushehr Residency Squadron; the conveyance of money, despatches and packets to various destinations; and the suppression of the slave trade.
