Dear Department,

Our telegram No.956 of November 16 about
the extension of the Bahrain Airfield. The Chief
Engineer from Habbaniya recently visited Bahrain
and told Mr. Champniss that he was ready to go
ahead with the preparation for the work on the new
runway. Before doing so he asked for an assurance
that the question of the land was now finally
settled. He was shown a copy of our telegram under
reference (of which another copy had previously
already been given to the Lands Officer from Air
Headquarters) but said that it was not categorical
enough. We do not ourselves understand this,
Paragraph 2 seems clear enough. You may therefore
think it worth while consulting the Air Ministry
with a view to removing whatever impediment still
remains to the commencement of the work.

Yours ever,

RESIDENCY.
