From Shaikh Abdul Aziz bin HumaidTo Consul-General, Colonel Campbell.

After compliments,

I wish to remind you that on the 12th Sha'aban 1318we held a meeting on the board of warship anchored atSharjah, in which we discussed about the wish of the Rulerof Abu Dhabi who wanted Sultan bin Nasir to reside at ourland Zawra. As the Ruler of Abu Dhabi has intervened inthis matter we, therefore, refused fearing of insecurity.Few days ago the First Secretary came here and investigatedabout Zawra. He said that if the Ruler of Abu Dhabi, withthe agreement of the Rulerof Sharjah, declares war againstus over Zawra, we should prefer peace rather than war.O Sahib, know, should the Ruler of Sharjah agree to this, nodoubt, all the Ghafiris and Hinawis on the coast will beunwilling to the sovereignty of the Ruler of Abu Dhabi atZawra. Should the Ruler of Abu Dhabi take such action, there will be great war which will cause blood-shed,de predation and looting among Ghafiris and Hinawis.According to the Treaty between the Rulers and the Daulah, you will not agree to such aggression between us. However,Sultan bin Nasir now resides at Dubai and he is under thejurisdiction of the Ruler of Dubai. As we are on goodterms of friendship with the Ruler of Dubai, we think, with his co-operation, we would be able to put an end to theRuler of Abu Dhabi's activities. With the agreement ofthe Ruler of Dubai, we are willing to allow Sultan binNasir to reside at our land Zawra on condition that he andhis relatives submit to our rules as long as they live atZawra. We will give an undertaking for their security andshould there will be any trouble between us and Sultan binNasir then the Daulah may arbitrate between us. We hopethat you will do your best to settle this matter.

Usual ending.
