This file relates to continuing efforts to improve Anglo-Saudi relations after Azzam Pasha's visit to London in July 1956 and amidst the Suez Crisis after Egypt nationalised the Suez Canal on 26 July. It contains correspondence concerning: Douglas Dodds-Parker's talk with Harry F Kern and Kern's communication with Foreign Secretary Selwyn Lloyd.

This file relates to Anglo-Saudi talks after the British mission to Riyadh led by Parliamentary Under-Secretary at the Foreign Office Douglas Dodds-Parker, which ended on 1 May 1956. It contains correspondence concerning: Ambassador R W Parkes's discussion with Prince Faisal Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud on a proposed agenda for Anglo-Saudi talks, including the latter's ultimatum regarding: the withdrawal of British troops from disputed areas; repatriation of refugees; maintenance of law and order; and supervision of the area by a neutral administration.
