This file contains correspondence relating to: Political Resident in the Persian Gulf B A B Burrows' suggestion to the Sultan of Muscat and Oman Saeed Bin Taimur that Gwadur [Gwadar] might be leased to Pakistan for five years and then sold (24) Prime Minister of Pakistan's eagerness for settlement over Gwadar for two reasons. Firstly, to combat the problem of smuggling.

It also contains a draft lease as agreed with Pakistan (1) The Sultan of Muscat and Oman Saeed Bin Taimur's agreement in principle to the idea of a lease and his wish that HMG negotiate on his behalf. Britain does not want to get directly involved (2-3) Further points made by the Sultan in discussion of the draft lease agreement regarding the questions of oil, duration, payment in sterling and ratification.
