(1) Dhahira:

A plain lying between the mountains of
Northern Oman and the edge of the sands
from Ibri as far north as Kahl; the
area includes Jau. It is occupied by
various tribes both nomadic and semi
nomadic of which Na'im, Awamir and
Daru' are the principal ones.

between the Baraimi oasis and Abu Dhabi,

(m) Khatam
(n) Baraimi oasis

the north-western part of the Jau
district bounded on the south by the
Jabal Hafit and comprising eight
villages, six of which are the property
of the Shaikh of Abu Dhabi who has been
in effective occupation of them for
many years. The Wahhabis were expelled
from Baraimi in 1869 and, although
Sa'udi agents have operated there for
short periods since and have maintained
an influence with some of the tribes
ibn Saud cannot claim ever to have had
any kind of administrative control such
as Shakhbut undoubtedly exercises.

2. It appears that a line drawn from the southern end of the
Sabkhat Matti to Qusaiwara well would include all of the
territory that can be said to be ruled by the Shaikh of Abu Dhabi.
The western limit of Abu Dhabi in 'Aqal is near Battha well. The
Shaikh of Abu Dhabi claims the Sha'ab al Ghaf as his frontier
on the western side of Muscat. There Abu Dhabi territory ends
and that of the Sultan of Muscat begins. The Ramlat al
Mughshin on the edge of the Ruba' al Khali has been said to
be the northern limit of the Sultan's claims, in that
direction. His claims in the Dhahira and Baraimi are dealt
with under the tribal notes.
