The PFLO has called on nationalist Arab regimes to take a defit lite serious and
frank position over the struggle currently taking place in Oman and to proclaim their
preparedness to defend Omani soil which is coming under invasion and occupation
s'instead of defending the invaders and the occupiers”. Sawt ath-Thawrah' the PFLO
paper, said today (15th February] that the US presence on Omani soil, together with the
British and Iranian presence, had pulled the carpet from under the feet of some brethren
who were trying to produce justifications for inaction.
The paper calls on these brethren to review their positions on what is currently
happening in Oman in terms of struggle between the Omani people on the one hand and
the imperialist forces and the invading Iranian reaction on the other. The paper said that
the consequences of this struggle, whether positive or negative, would not be restricted to
Omani soil, but would extend to Arab soil.
The paper asserted that the victory which the Omani people would achieve over
the imperialists and the reactionaries would reinforce the capability of the Arab nation
and the Arab revolution's groups in the same way as Arab victory could be achieved in
the struggle against the Zionist and imperialist enemy occupying Palestinian Arab soil.
The paper calls on the Arab nation and its nationalist regimes to render to the Omani
people and their revolution support commensurate with the enormity and seriousness of
the struggle currently being waged by these people.
Note: The Iraqi agency and Baghdad radio then reported that “the Omani revolutionaries
had killed 23 Iranian military personnel in battles waged in the western area of Dhufar
region last Wednesday and Thursday”.
Egyptian Comment on Kissinger's Visit
Cairo Voice of the Arabs 1130 gmt 15 Feb 75
Excerpts from commentary by Muhammad ad-Dali:
No doubt the most important achievement in Dr. Kissinger's current tour is the
fact that he has been able to familiarize himself at close quarters with the dimensions of
the situation... Although his briefcase, with all its papers and reports, remains closed,
we, by virtue of being in the heart of the region ... can define the outlines of the picture
which the US Secretary of State must have formed...'
The first outline of this picture is that the situation in the Middle East is very
serious... and if no real progress has been achieved in solving the crisis and if no definite
step is taken to defuse the situation before the expiry of the period covering the presence
of the UN forces before this April, the situation could once again get out of hand...
The second outline is that the attitude of Egypt and the rest of the Arab nation
is unambiguously clear. What he heard in Cairo was the same as that which he heard in
Damascus and every Arab capital he visited...
More precisely this means that Egypt, Syria, the PLO and the rest of the Arab
states which are bound by national and historical responsibilities ... welcome any new
Israeli withdrawal on the three fronts so long as this withdrawal takes place within the
framework of the separation between forces and falls within military arrangements
without being directly or indirectly dependent on any political commitments by Egypt
and the Arabs. .
