Appendix A to Annex 1

Revised description of the frontier between
the Sultanate of Muscat and Oman and Abu Dhabi

Starting in the wadi that separates the gravel
plain from the sands east of Al Aqaidat, the frontier
runs south along the middle course of this wadi to
Hazza Al Dhabi, which lies on a bearing of 273° from
the Muscat Customs Post at the mouth of Wadi Sumaini.
From there the line runs west to the summit of the dune
Sharaf Jabara, and thence south to the mid point on the
line between the two principal Jail ar wells, the western
"live" well belonging to the Dhawahir (Abu Dhabi) and
the eastern, now disused, to the Bani Kaab (Muscat).
Thence the line runs west to the westerly limit of the
Wadi Sinaibil, where it meets the Dhahiyat Al Shansaubah,
and from there south to the sand mound Dimyat Al Yaraibi
(Jaraibi) and south to the west of the former well Tawi
Adhamiya (to Muscat) and south to a point midway between
the long grey ridge Qurun Al Salabikh (to Muscat) and
the cone shaped sand dune Sharaf Ghamail. From here the
line runs south to the summit of the lone stony sand
dune Qurn Awyan, where the marked portion of the boundary
begins. Thence the frontier goes due east for 860 yards,
and then turns due south to a point 930 yards due east
of the cairn on the summit of the northernmost hillock
of the Qurun Mutarih Basita feature, the whole of which
belongs to Abu Dhabi.

From this point the line runs on a bearing of 235°
to the northern extremity of the ridge Qurun Hazam, and
then on a bearing of 214 to the point where the main track
running north from Sa'ara to Mahadha crosses the Falaj Umm
al Shatarain, At this point it turns on to a bearing of
230, running between Sa'ara and Hili across the Falaj
Ma'a zami and continuing to the south of Qurun Jiham.
Thence the line runs west to Aidan Bin Khanfur (trees)
and south to the samr tree east of Aud Al Binaiyya and
south to the eastern Aud Muqatara (tree). From here the
frontier runs south to the ghafa tree which lies in the
sand dunes immediately east of Ghafat Shahin and then
east (104) to a point on the northern edge of the sand
dune Nadd Al Ghurban. From this point the boundary goes
east (75°) to the tree Samrat as Sinah and eastwards 24
yards on the southern side of the Falaj Buraimi to the
south of its source (umm leaving the short tributary
(sa'ad) in Muscat territory.

Thence the line continues eastwards to the north of
Nab'a and on east to the well Tawi Ahmad Bin Gawwal, which
is divided evenly between the two sides. From here the
fontier runs on a bearing of 87° to the north of the
crescent shaped hill feature west of the mountains
enclosing the Awaina plain, passing 750 yards north of the
defunct Awaina well and continuing straight to the summit
of the ridge separating the Awaina plain from the Wadi
al Ain.

The border then runs along the crest of this ridge
to its extreme southerly point, Khatam Ash Shikla on the

Buraimi - Wadi
