runs from Jebal Lisheikhera and Jebal Milaiha straightacross the Wadi to Hadf, and says that he claimsnothing within the Wadi itself.

The Biduwat of Masſut and Hajarain agree that theborder between them lies at Jebal Mussaya, where aboundary wall has been built, and say that the frontierbetween them continues in the line of this wall to thenorth and south (leaving Salmi and the Wadi Laim toAjman).

AL GEZIR

This is a series of small plantations lying at thefoot of Lisheikhera, the eastern end of the Jebal Raudha. These gardens in the past belonged to the Khawalid, butthey have now been taken over by the Ruler of Ajman.Shaikh Abdullah bin Salim and Khalfan bin Gharib admithis claim to them.

HADF

The village of Hadf lies on the south side of thewestern entrance to the Wadi Hadi (or Hatta) oppositeJebal Raudha. Although it is inhabited by the BeniKaab and Shaikh Abdulla Salim claims it, it pays zakatto Shaikh Rashid bin Humaid's Wali of Masſut. ShaikhAli of Ajman has told me that about thirty years agothe Naim owned Hadf, but that the Beni Kaab had sincebought all the palms from them. This was confirmed byShaikh Abdullah bin Salim of the Beni Kaab.

Conclusion.

Although the settlement or Beni Kaab frontier is beyondmy competence, it would appear to me absolutely essentialthat communications between the Dubai and Ajman areas inthe Wadi Hatta, and the rest of the Trucial States shouldbe preserved. Therefore, leaving the question of theShaikh of Ajman's claims to Hadf open, I recommend thatAjman should be granted a minimum frontier running downthe centre of the Vadi Irom Lisheikhera to Ghuzianat. As will be seen from the above evidence, the Sheikh ofthe Beni Kaab is prepared to give more than this. FromGhuslanat the frontier should run towards the mountainsand should include Jebal Thaida (if not part or all ofJebal Gsaifa and Hadi). The frontier should meet theline of the wall at Jebal Mussaya and cut straight acrossthe Wadi to the mountains between Wadi Hatta and "adiQor. It should reach the watershed of those mountainsin the neighbourhood of Jebal Ghallas and continuewestwards along that watershed by way of Jebal Bu Farajto Jebal Milaiha, and thence return to Lisheikhera.

This frontier could be announced to the Ruler ofAjman, it being made clear that the question of hissouthern boundary with the Beni Kaab was not in factdecided, as we have no competence to do this, and thatthe settlement was without prejudice to any overridingclaim that the Sultan oi Muscat might later make.
