Annex 3. Wadi Madha

The settlement of the frontiers here has,
fortunately proved comparatively easy, apart from the
difficulty of access. I have left with Your Highness
copies of the proposed definitions of the different
stretches of this frontier (in English and Arabic)
which are now all accepted by the three Trucial Rulers
concerned. For ease of reference I reproduce these
descriptions here: -

(a) The Frontier with Fujairah

From Sidr al Qais, roughly one mile west of Qidfa,
the frontier shall run south, leaving Jaradiyah well
and the surrounding plain as a neutral area in which
both parties have equal rights, to Jabal Habalah in the
plain mid-way between Qidfa and Madha, which is divided
equally between the two sides. Thence the line shall
follow the watershed running south-west, leaving Tawi
Garat and Sih Garat to Fujairah, to Jebel Tawi bint
Rashid, approximately one mile south of Ghunah. From
there the line continues along the watershed, leaving
Wadi Mayamt and Wadi Half and all their tributaries
to Madha and Wadis Thayb and Safad, with all their
tributaries, to Fujairah, to Jebel Half and onwards to
Nejd al Tajir, which belongs to Fujairah.

(b) The Frontier with Ras al Khaimah

From Nejd al Tajir, which marks the limit of the
frontier netween Madha and Fujairah, the line follows the
watershed to Najd al Taiyyah, leaving Wadi Marair and its
tributaries to Ras al Khaimah and Wadi Hasanah and its
tributaries to adha. From there the line continues to
Kharr al Najm in Wadi Hasanah, which is the southern limit
of Sharjah territory.

(c) The Frontier with Sharjah

From Kharr al Najm in Wadi Hasanah the line runs
through Ras Salwa to Ras Hattatah above Wadi Shis,
crossing that wadi at Ghubbat al Sallum. Thence the line
runs north along the summits of the mountains, leaving
Shis and Wadi Shis and all its tributaries to Sharjah and
Wadis Bada' and Haurah and all their tributaries to Madha.
Thence the line follows the mountain ridge, through Jebel
Aswad, Mardamt, Al Kharais and Jebel al Alam, to the south
of Al Awainat, leaving Sih Lahfah (which is part of Sih
al Khor) and the wadis feeding it to Khor Fakkan. The
area of Jaradiyah, including the plain and the well, shall
be a neutral zone in which all parties have equal rights.

The village of Nahwa and its immediate surroundings,
as defined below, although situated in the Wadi Madha, are
regarded as Qawasim territory.

The limits of the Nahwa enclave are as follows:
in the west to Rafsat abu Haqab, immediately above the
Wadi Madha, between Nahwa and Hajar, and in the east the
