128 Appendix J. (1) Statement of Ahmed bin Ebrahim al Mua'ala about Zura. About 65 years ago, in the reign of Ayal Rashid binHumaid, a quarrel took place between the people of Ajman andHimriyah on fishing rights. They fought with timber and as a result of this three men from Himriyah and one from Ajman were injured. At that time the Shaikh in Himriyah was Saifbin Abdul Rahman. He took the wounded men in a small boatto Sharjah before Shaikh Saqr bin Khalid who sent them to the Residency Agent, Abdullatif. The Residency Agent said to them that he would enquire from Ajman people. After twodays time Abdullatif visited Ajman and asked Ayal Rashid binHumaid about the incident. They replied that we cannotremain on this situation and that everyday the pcople of Himriyah fight with our subjects in our territory. Abdullatif, accompanied by the Ayal Rashid, named al Taruq,visited Zura. Saif bin Abdul Rahman, the Shaikh of Himriyah, was also present there. The Residency Agent, Abdullatif, defined the boundary from Khor Ghanatel northwards to the people of Himriyah and from the west tothe people of Ajman. That none of the people of Himriyah should fish at Ajman territory and that none of Ajman peopleshould fish in Himriyah area. The line of this frontier was agreed by the two parties. The people of Ajman made a protest to the Residency Agent and said "should thepeople of Himriyah attack us, you should know that we willdeclare war against Himriyah". The Residency Agent replied them "should of any of Himriyah people attack you, the matter should be reported to me and that I will take action".
