Note on tribes ranging north and east of the Riyadh line

whose allegiance may govern a frontier settlement,

(1)

The tribes concerned are as follows:
(a) Al Morrah

(b)

Bani Hajir

(c)

'Awamir

(a) Manahil

(j) Albu Shams

(k)
(1)

Bani Qitab
Darul

(m) Bani Kalab

(n) Al Kathir

(2)

(a) Al Morrah

The Al Morrah seem to occupy the same dira as that de scribed by Lorimer, who says: they are the only inhabitants
of the Ja furah desert; Jabrin is their property; they some times visit Qatar in their peregrinations; and they frequent
the district of 'Aqal to a certain extent". All this is tme
today although there is recont evidence of their appearance in
Bainuna and other rogions in Abu Dhabi territory in small
numbers. They are undoubtedly a Sa'udi tribe but have no pre scriptive rights either in 'Aqal as a whole (although some
wells to the west of the district may belong to them) or in
Qatar.

(b) Bani Hajir

The Mukhadhdhabah section ranges within the boundaries of
Qatar, as far south as tho Khor al Oda id. According to
Lorimer the sections outside Qatar have no "exclusivo possession
of any territory. The section within Qatar, althouch they
have had relations with the Saludis at times, are clearly with in the jurisdiction of the Al Thani.
